Brussells and swedes


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups halved Brussels sprouts (200g)
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced swede (100g)
  • 1/4 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1/4 cup water

Method

  • Saute the sprouts and swede in the first measure of water for 6-8 minutes or until the sprouts are bright green and tender.
  • Alternatively microwave on high power for 5-7 minutes.
  • Blend the spices, sugar, cornflour and second measure of water together.
  • Stir into the vegetables.
  • Continue to cook or microwave for 1-2 minutes or until the sauce becomes smooth and glossy.
  • Stir to coat the vegetables with the glaze.

Serves 4.
