Making the most of life

No matter what your age, you can still have fun. When was the last time you had fun? A good old-fashioned belly laugh, time to go shopping or have lunch and a laugh with the girls.

It seems as we women grow older, we don’t find the time to have some fun for ourselves. We are adults and we have adult responsibilities so there is no way we can go run through the sprinklers, talk on the phone endlessly or play dress ups. But what is the point of all the hard work if we can’t enjoy a good quality of life with fun, friends and laughter?

Here are some good ideas if you find you are in a rut with life. Enjoying life can have such a positive impact on your well being and health so it is important that we get some fun back into our work and our home life.

  • Dedicate a day to fun at work. If you must work then why not make it a fun place to be? It will have positive effects on staff productivity and morale.
  • Talk with others who seem to enjoy life. Share with them what you do to have a little fun and enhance your quality of life and find out what they do.
  • Move outside your comfort zone. Try something different, begin small and as you feel more sure of yourself move onto bigger goals.
  • Schedule a regular weekly or monthly ‘fun’ time for you. Do lunch, have a make over or a massage, go to the library or spend some time on a sunbed but just make sure that it is something that you will enjoy and don’t often get the chance to do. Put it in your diary and do it regularly.
  • Find your dream. What would you love to do if you had the time? Try something new that you have always thought you might like such as writing classes, art classes or even computer classes.
  • Try new things that you wouldn’t normally try – do you always go to the same restaurants and choose the same foods? Go on try something new and shake things up a little.
  • Help others less fortunate. Try volunteering for a couple of hours a week, not only will it make the people you help feel good but it will give you a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

Women often put the needs of our families, friends and career ahead of our own and it is time to reclaim our quality of life and learn to laugh a little. Remember everyone wins if you allow yourself some fun, not only will you feel much better but it will rub off on others around you as well.
