Grilled green beans


  • 500 gms green beans, trimmed
  • 2 medium tomatoes, cored and chopped
  • 1 small onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard
  • 1 tblp firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper


    Blanch green beans until tender-crisp; do not cut.

    Spray a large piece of heavy aluminum foil with vegetable cooking spray; fold edges up slightly to make a rim all the way around the edge.

    Place the beans on foil with tomatoes and onion; set aside.

    Prepare grill.

    Combine butter, dry mustard, brown sugar, salt and pepper in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; cook until melted and thoroughly combined.

    Pour over green bean mixture; fold the foil up tightly into a packet.

    Grill for about 20 minutes; serve hot.
