Spicy cabbage recipe


  • 50 gms of butter
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cored and cut into six wedges
  • 50 ml of chilli sauce
  • 2 Tbsp of water
  • 2 Tbsp of caraway seeds
  • Half a tsp of ground cloves or allspice
  • Half a tsp of salt
  • Half a tsp of pepper


Melt butter in a microwave proof dish and roll cabbage wedges in the butter.

Arrange the wedges in the dish so that the wider portions face outside.

Combine all the remaining ingredients and spoon evenly over the wedges.

Cover the dish and place in microwave.

Cook on high for approx ten minutes or until cabbage is just on the hard side of tender.

Remove dish from the microwave and allow to stand, covered, for 5 mins before serving to allow the cabbage to finish cooking. Serves six.
